Washington D.C.- The capitol of the United States of America, Washington DC is located in the capitol district and technically not a part of any state. It sits on the east coast in between Virginia and Maryland. Known for the Smithsonian Institution and the many government buildings, Washington DC is a great place to go if you love architecture, politics, museums, or any combination of the above.

  • Georgetown Cupcake- Go to the original shop front in Georgetown to get some awesomely delicious cupcakes from the site of the famous show Georgetown Cupcake on TLC. Be prepared to wait in line and take your food to-go, the line is usually out the door and around the block with only 4-5 tables.

Must Do

  • If you have some flexibity with planning, visit during the 4th of July and watch the fireworks from the lawn of the Capitol Building.

  • Get a cupcake from Georgetown Cupcakes, as seen around the world on TLC.
  • Go shopping and walk along the marina in Old Town Alexandria.
