Guide to Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro Brazil

Rio de Janeiro- Once the capitol city of Brazil and now one of the most recognizable cities in the world, Rio de Janeiro is most famous for its beaches, slums, passion for soccer, and Christ the Redeemer statue. Known by what people see in films, most recently Fast and the Furious 5, Rio is so much more that it's slums or violence which is almost always depicted. The people are warm and inviting, always trying to help and offer tips, and if one keeps to the safer areas and takes necessary precautions it is a perfectly safe city to travel in as a "gringo" (foreigner). There is always something to do in Rio whether or not it includes seeing all of the notable landmarks or going off the beaten path to explore some of the less famous but just as breathtaking areas.
