Renaissance by Marriott São Paulo Review

The best hotel we have stayed at in Brazil to date, the Renaissance by Marriott São Paulo is tucked away on a small, quiet street right in the heart of the city. Featuring luxury hotel rooms, a top-rated spa, multiple restaurants, and a theatre, the Renaissance Hotel has it all. To make it even more desirable to those visiting São Paulo, it is located only 1 block away from the bustling, and tourist friendly, Avenida Paulista.

As you pull up to the Renaissance Hotel, you feel ever so slightly underwhelmed by the appearance of the building (the building itself as you look up, not the entrance) but don't let that fool you. Once inside you will find yourself immersed in luxury and style as you stare at the beautiful wall-sized photos of the sprawling city that is to be your new home, at least temporarily.

After doing our check-in completely in English (as a part of our experiment to see if the workers in São Paulo were ready for the influx of tourists), we stepped into the glass elevator and headed up to our room on the 9th floor.

The rooms are modern, large, and very comfortable in typical Marriott fashion. With plush bedding, an abundance of pillows, and a sizable bathroom, it was hard to imagine leaving after only one night.

After leaving our comfortable hotel surroundings for a walk around the neighborhood (and some coffee), we headed back to see what else the hotel had to offer.

On the level under the lobby, there is a theatre and meeting/banquet rooms which were all in use during our stay. On the second floor, which you can access by a special set of elevators or stairs, is the spa, pool, large banquet room, lounge, expansive gym, and convenience store.

The first-class, luxury spa offers services such as scrubs, wraps, massages, therapy baths, fitness counseling, facials, eye treatments, and more. While lounging next to the pool, we saw countless people coming and going from the spa, with all those leaving appearing serene and rejuvenated.

Having stayed in many hotels in different Brazilian cities, the Renaissance Hotel has been our favorite. The first-class service and luxury amenities made our stay wonderful and memorable, and should we end up vacationing in São Paulo again we will definitely return to the Renaissance.

Our recommendation: Ask for a higher floor just to insure that your room will be quiet and without street noise. If you plan on using any spa services, make sure to book in advance as they can be quite busy on weekends. Also, the breakfast was phenomenal! We would definitely recommend to get a rate that includes breakfast so that you can start your day of exploring São Paulo with breakfast at the hotel.
