Packing Lists for Winter Weather

Hey everyone!

Having packed dozens (maybe even hundreds) of times and with a lot of traveling coming up beginning in 9 days, we thought it would be a great idea to share some of our basic packing guidelines for women and men. We hope that you find it helpful for any winter travel plans you may have!

To make this easier, this list can be considered unisex with anything in pink being specifically for women and anything in blue being specifically for men.

*Please note that this particular packing list is specific for winter travel to colder cities although some minor adjustments can be made for a general packing list*


Toiletries

  • Medication
  • Tampons/Pads
  • Lip balm
  • Lotion
  • Deodorant
  • Toothbrush
  • Toothpaste
  • Tissues
  • Shaving Kit
  • Makeup and moisturizer

Clothing- In cold weather, layering is ideal! It is best to layer on more clothes if you will be spending a lot of time outside while making it easy to take of layers when you enter heated buildings.

  • Sweaters
  • Long sleeve shirts
  • Short sleeve shirts
  • Sweatshirts
  • Pajamas
  • Jeans
  • Socks (depending on the weather and how snug your shoes are, wool socks are ideal for cold, snowy weather)
  • Underwear
  • Bras
  • Leggings
  • Tights
  • Skirts
  • Dresses

Outerwear

  • Winter jacket (ideally should be at least partially waterproof)
  • Scarves
  • Mittens/Gloves
  • Beanies/Winter hats

Shoes

  • Boots (with lining and waterproofing)
  • Comfortable walking shoes (try to bring shoes with enough room for warmer/thicker socks)
  • Sandals for walking around within the hotel 

Carry-On

  • Passport (if traveling international-if not it can be used as an ID)
  • Driver's License (if you plan on driving-if not it can be used as an ID)
  • Wallet with cash and credit/debit cards
  • Addresses and phone numbers of hotels and important itinerary stops
  • Flight/Travel Information
  • Camera and charger
  • Cell phone and charger
  • Jewelry

Misc.


  • Umbrella
  • Swimwear if you plan on swimming at your hotel
  • Heels if you plan on attending a more formal event.
  • Tie and Suit/Sport Jacket if you plan on attending a more formal event.
  • Sunglasses
  • Contact Lenses and eye drops
  • Power adaptors
  • Extra memory cards
Please note that you should include all of your contact information on the outside and inside of all of your bags just in case your bags happen to get lost and/or the outside information is removed. Also, if possible do not put any valuables in checked luggage due to the chance of theft.
