California

The initial information for California has been posted! There is still much more to come but for now you should all go check it out! There's already some great information on places to eat in San Diego and Santa Monica! http://inthelandofbeauty.blogspot.com.br/p/san-diego.html

California, the golden state that is known around the world for beaches, girls, and of course, Hollywood.
Jessica called the beautiful beach city of San Diego home for some time while attending San Diego State University and traveled up and down this golden coast on Pacific Coast Highway.

Los Angeles- The city of angels is so huge that we will not even pretend that we have seen all of it. From beaches to high rises, movie sets and amusement parks, this city has enough to keep you running around for years.

San Diego- San Diego, the most beautiful city in the United States (as many people like to say) is definitely a paradise and a must visit city. There are beautiful beaches, chic city blocks lined with boutiques, multicultural family-owned restaurants, and great venues for sporting events and concerts alike; not to mention San Diego State University, home of the Aztecs and one of the country's top collegiate basketball team and women's soccer team.

  • In San Diego, undoubtedly the best street to find somewhere to ear is 5th Avenue in the Gaslamp District. Our personal favorites/recommendations on 5th Avenue are...
    • Cafe21 for breakfast! Cafe21 is a restaurant locally owned and operated using all organic and locally grown food. They have omelets that are to die for and for those of you that are 21+ they are known for their Sangria Shooters. On the weekends, they are very busy for brunch so we recommend reservations and if the weather is nice, the outside patio offers a nice breeze and people watching. http://www.cafe-21.com/
    • The Field Pub is a great place for anyone looking for some UK style food. Might I recommend the Shepard's Pie, our favorite meal of the week! The atmosphere is loud, lots of TVs and many people at the bar but the booths are comfortable and the wait staff is great. http://www.thefield.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/events.woa
    • Stacked is for anyone looking for a unique experience and a good burger. This is not located in the downtown area but rather a short trolley ride away at Fashion Valley Mall. Stacked is a burger restaurant that allows the guests to order with iPads and customize everything from the fries to milkshakes and the amount of ketchup you want on your burger or on the side. The atmosphere is fun and the food is great! http://stacked.com/

Santa Monica- Most well known as the finishing point in Forrest Gump's run across the country, Santa Monica runs along a beach at the edge of LA. The most notable feature is, of course, the pier, which is filled with carnival foods, games, a Ferris wheel, small roller coaster, and aerial circus school. It is every child's paradise aside from, oh you know, actual amusement parks. And speaking of paradise, every shopper and foodies' paradise is just a quick walk back up the pier away. 3rd street promenade is a street closed off so that only pedestrians can access it. All along it are many of the stores that you would commonly find in the mall but bigger. Their Forever 21 has 4+ floors! And it is not only the stores that draw locals and tourists there on weekends. They are fantastic restaurants all along the beach and in the various shopping districts as well as a street market with fresh fruits and vegetables once a week that is a great place to spot celebrities.

  • 3rd Street Promenade- http://www.downtownsm.com/
    • Santa Monica Place- An open-air mall situated at the south end of the promenade with high-end stores and great restaurants. http://www.santamonicaplace.com/
      • On a trip up to Los Angeles, we ate at a great Mexican restaurant in Santa Monica place called La Sandia. We started with chips and salsa, ordered the grilled steak tacos, and grilled chicken tacos. All of which was excellent! We would highly recommend it for anyone in the area looking for good quality Mexican cuisine and a very nice atmosphere. http://www.richardsandoval.com/lasandiasm/index.php
